The trade of counterfeit products is a major global issue in agriculture, and every Ag-tech company struggles to keep its supply chain free of them. Our client wanted to solve the following problems:
This created an urgent need to track the original products and eliminate the sources of entry for counterfeits.
We strategized and developed a barcode application and portal that lets users scan barcodes printed on the company’s products, enabling them to track their location in the supply chain. The users can also add comments for referencing later and to bring more about the status if required. In addition to tracking products, the data collected also helped to determine if counterfeits are being supplied anywhere.
As soon as the barcode is scanned, the application records the following details:
This code gets scanned using the anti-counterfeit application at every stage and updates the SAP database with the scan count and other details.
The products generally get scanned approx. three times in its journey & the risk of counterfeiting is shown based on this probability. Users can report such products to the Syngenta team for Investigation.
